Portable Horn Instructions

General Operation

Switch on the master power switch on top of the unit. Verify healthy battery condition and push the Manual button to test the horn – Caution, the horn is very loud.

The Manual button can be used at any time as required, ie manual starting signals, OCS, shorten course and finishing signals etc. It will not re-set the clock or relay timers.

Automatic Operation

Confirm that the mode switches are set as desired - 1 switch only, ie 3 Minute (+ Pursuit if appropriate):

3 Minute (3-2-1-Go) - Push Auto button to begin start sequence.

6 Minute (3-2-1-Go-2-1-Go) - Push Auto button to begin 2-fleet start sequence.

5 Minute (5-4-1-Go) - Push Auto button to begin start sequence.

Pursuit 60 - Horn will sound an extended blast, 60 minutes after the start signal.

Pursuit 90 - Horn will sound an extended blast, 90 minutes after the start signal.

Notes-

For auto sequence, there is a 1-minute lead-in delay to the 1st warning signal. The Amber LED and a buzzer will confirm sequence activation, and the integral clock will count up.

The clock re-sets to zero at each auto signal event and then indicates race duration / elapsed time. It does not reset when using the manual horn or at the pursuit end.

To cancel the auto sequence, switch the master switch off and then back on if required.

We recommend synchronising and running the usual R/O clock in the normal way as a back-up for the elapsed time in case of loss due to accidental reset etc.

Using the remote control

Press button A for manual operation of the horn.
Press B & D simultaneously to initiate the selected auto start sequence - The clock time will be reset. Press B & C simultaneously to cancel the auto start sequence – The clock time count will be interrupted.

Race Office Use

If desired, the unit can be used to operate the fixed Race Office horn. Plug the jack plug lead from the race office desk into the unit at the right-hand port and follow the instructions above – The Red R/O mode indicator will show and the integral horn will be disabled.

When all racing is finished

Check remaining battery condition, then switch off the master power switch. Return the unit to the Race Office and re-charge if necessary.
