Training

KGSC is currently evaluating its plan for courses in 2021 and anticipates publishing course dates in late Spring.

KGSC is a non-commercial club that operates for its members. For members to dinghy sail on the reservoir, they need to be at least RYA Level 2 standard and able to buddy sail (provide safety cover for another boat). KGSC periodically runs courses to assist those that want to become new members to achieve the required standard and consolidate their knowledge and skills.

To windsurf on the reservoir, windsurfers need to have the standard of RYA Start windsurfing and to be able to tack and gybe.

Course fees include membership for the remainder of the membership year (to end March).

Sailing courses:

  1. RYA 1 – This two day course Introduces you to sailing with all you need to know to get afloat under supervision. You will learn how to sail in all directions, including an awareness of launching and recovering.
  2. RYA 2 – This two day course builds on the skills acquired in the level 1. You will learn how to rig, launch, improve sailing skills in all directions, perform capsize recovery procedures and essential safety knowledge.
